Are top-of-head masks louder to the user than other CPAP masks?Updated 2 months ago
Top-of-head CPAP masks, like the ResMed AirFit N30i and P30i, can sometimes be perceived as louder to the user compared to traditional front-hose masks.
Airflow Through the Frame – Unlike traditional CPAP masks where air flows directly from the tubing into the cushion, top-of-head masks use hollow frame tubing to deliver air from the hose down to the cushion. This can sometimes create a "whooshing" sound inside the frame, which may be more noticeable to the user.
Exhaust Vent Placement – The vent is located near the elbow on top of the head rather than in front of the mask, meaning the sound of exhaled air might be less noticeable to a bed partner but more noticeable to the wearer.
