How do I change the pressure on my CPAP machine?Updated 16 days ago
Most CPAP machines are designed to deliver air at a prescribed pressure setting determined by a sleep specialist. If you feel like your pressure is too high or too low, it’s best to speak with your healthcare provider before making changes.
However, if you need to adjust your pressure settings—and you're confident it’s appropriate to do so—here’s what you need to know:
⚠️ Important Note
Changing your pressure settings without medical guidance can affect your therapy effectiveness. If you’re experiencing discomfort or feel the pressure isn’t right, email us at [email protected] and we’ll help you connect with the right support.
Accessing the Clinical Menu (for most CPAP models):
💡 Instructions vary slightly depending on the brand of your machine. Below is a general guideline for ResMed AirSense and similar models.
🛠 How to access the clinical settings menu (ResMed AirSense 10 or 11):
Make sure your machine is plugged in and turned off (not blowing air).
Press and hold the round dial and Home button together for about 3–5 seconds.
The Clinical Menu will appear.
Scroll to “Settings” and select it.
Find “Pressure” (or “Min/Max Pressure” on auto machines) and adjust to the desired level.
Press the dial to confirm and then back out of the menu.
🔐 Some machines may be locked or set by your provider. In those cases, contact us and we’ll assist based on your machine model and setup.
Unsure what pressure you should be using?
Your optimal pressure setting depends on your specific sleep apnea diagnosis, breathing patterns, and comfort level. If you're struggling with your current settings, we strongly recommend contacting your doctor or sleep therapist first.
